Most people would not know that the Catholic Saints from past years have their own day in which the churches give them praise and the Catholic people pray for these saints to do good on the earth. Many of the Christians did not understand the reason for saints and took them as people they were not. Becoming a saint is something that takes devotion to the god that you worship without fear of repression or of persecution. The life of a saint would have been very tough, full of sacrifice and hardship as well as the problems that other religions and different people of different faith caused them.
In a very open means of terms the word saints comes from the Catholic religion and is a term that means unique follower of Jesus Christ. These Catholic saints lived their lives according to the exact teaching of Jesus and made great efforts to spread his word of good will to other people. Other religions may use the term saint to refer to holy men however this is an inaccurate definition of the term.
In the Catholic Church there is also the term patron Catholic saint. This term related more to the saints that relied on prayer to spread the word of god rather than by their action. This meaning can be taken with a grain of salt because over the two thousand years since the birth of Jesus Christ there have been many different versions and definitions that have been misinterpreted.
